My childhood memories of Autumn always involve a family outing to the local apple orchard. We would watch them bake fresh apple donuts, anxiously awaiting if they would taste as good as they smelled. (Of course they did!)
We walked through a maze of giant vats of apple cider, sampling a taste at the end of the tour.
And strolling through the apple grove was never disappointing.
Although there aren’t as many apple orchards in my part of the country, I love to reminisce about my childhood days in Autumn. So as soon as the weather turns crisp and long sleeves are pulled out of the closet, I’m in Fall mode!
This year I wanted to buy apple cider but decided to make it homemade instead. I’m so glad I tried this easy and amazing recipe!
As always, my Vitamix blender keeps things simple from start to finish. I tossed in an apple, water, cinnamon, and honey. I let the machine whirr on the highest speed for 5-6 minutes. When I opened the lid, I was slammed with an apple scented face full of steam!
Pour this homemade cider into your favorite mug, snuggle up with a blanket, and enjoy the crisp Fall weather!
Hot Apple Cider (in the blender!)
No need to buy a gallon apple cider from the store when you can take 5 minutes to make it in your blender with only 4 ingredients!
Ingredients
- 2 cups water
- 1 apple, peeled, cored, and roughly chopped
- Optional: 1 tsp cinnamon
- Optional: 1 Tbsp agave or honey
Instructions
- Place the water, apple, cinnamon, and agave/honey into the Vitamix container.
- Gradually increase to the highest speed and run for 5-6 minutes.
- Skim off the foam (or drink from the bottom with a straw), and enjoy immediately.
Notes
For thinner apple cider, add an additional cup of water.
For sweeter apple cider, add additional honey.
