Vitamix Refurbished Blenders – Are They Good?

Vitamix refurbished blenders have made owning a Vitamix machine much more affordable. The Certified Reconditioned Blenders are available in 2017 in the C-Series (Classic), G-Series (Next-Gen), as well as the S-Series (Personal) models that are sold directly from Vitamix. They are usually the most heavily discounted blenders you can buy from Vitamix.com and frequently go on sale!

They are customer returns or lightly used demonstration models that cannot be resold as new, and this means substantial savings over the cost of a brand new Vitamix blender.

You can get free shipping on your Certified Reconditioned Vitamix order when you purchase direct from Vitamix.com using the links on blenderreviews.us.

Every Vitamix refurbished blender goes through a series of quality inspections and must pass a 17-point checklist during the certified reconditioning process at the factory in Cleveland, Ohio. Worn or broken parts, containers, lids, tampers, and recipe book packages are replaced with new parts, so the blender that you’ll receive is practically brand new.

They  are also known for having the highest rating for a manufacturer’s warranty.

The Packages

In 2017, Vitamix currently offers five to eight different versions of Certified Reconditioned packages, each containing a different class of blender and every reconditioned package comes with a 5 year Vitamix warranty.

Certified Reconditioned Two Speed

The entry level Vitamix refurbished blender is the Certified Reconditioned Two Speed.

The Vitamix Two Speed refurbished package contains either a TurboBlend Two Speed or CIA Creations model with the standard 64 oz Eastman Tritan BPA-free container, the Recipes for the TurboBlend Two Speed recipe book, and a tamper. It comes with the 5 year warranty.

The blender base comes in one of four colors (black, cobalt, espresso, or red) , with black, red, and cobalt (blue) shown above from left to right. It is outfitted with the same 2-peak horsepower motor as all of the other models in the classic line. One notable difference here is that this model does not come with the familiar variable speed dial, so you are limited to just two speeds, low and high.

Certified Reconditioned Standard

One step up from the entry-level, and the most recognizable of the Vitamix models is the Certified Reconditioned Standard.

This package will include one of the following Vitamix blender models: Vitamix 5200, CIA Professional Series, Creations II, Creations GC, Professional Series 200, Total Nutrition Center, or TurboBlend VS; along with the standard 64 oz Eastman Tritan BPA-free container, a Getting Started Plus cookbook, and a tamper. They are also commonly known as:

  • Vitamix 5200 refurbished
  • Vitamix CIA Professional refurbished
  • Vitamix Creations refurbished
  • Vitamix Pro 200 refurbished
  • Vitamix Total Nutrition Center refurbished

The motor base of the Certified Reconditioned Standard package is available in seven different colors (red, white, black, blue, platinum, brushed stainless, and espresso) and contain the same 2-peak horsepower motor. It incorporates the 3″ blade in the 64 oz container. It is also the first of the manual type of blenders to integrate variable speed control, making it a truly versatile appliance that chefs around the world find a necessity in their kitchens.

Technically, you’d put in your shopping cart at vitamix.com a Vitamix Certified Reconditioned Standard blender, but many commonly refer to this as the Vitamix 5200 refurbished blender. It comes with the 5 year warranty that can be upgraded to 8 years.

The Vitamix 5200 refurbished blender is one of the best bargains of all time! Out of all the models of blenders Vitamix sells, in our opinion, this is THE BEST ONE to buy. It is the total blender that can do anything you need for a blending job. It may not have all the bells and whistles of newer blenders, but it can produce any masterpiece a chef wants.

They’ve been in scarce supply in 2017. So if you see a Vitamix 5200 refurbished for sale on the vitamix.com website, don’t hesitate, buy it! Use the link below to get the FREE SHIPPING.

Certified Reconditioned Standard Programs

The next step up in the refurbished Vitamix line is the Certified Reconditioned Standard Programs.

With this package, you’ll receive one of the Vitamix models that features the preset preprogrammed settings, such as the Professional Series 500 or the Vitamix 6300, a 64 oz BPA-free Eastman Tritan container, the Savor cookbook, and a tamper.

They’re also commonly known as:

  • Vitamix Pro 500 Refurbished
  • Vitamix 6300 Refurbished

Vitamix now offers a risk-free, 30 day in-home trial so you can try one out for yourself. If you’re not satisfied, just return it for a full reimbursement. They will even cover the cost of return shipping. If you use our promo code anywhere on this page, shipping to you is free as well. So if you do end up returning it, you actually can get a zero cost in-home trial.

The motor base is available in one of five colors (red, white, black, platinum, or brush stainless), comes with the same 2-peak horsepower motor, but features the updated controls with three preprogrammed settings (smoothies, frozen desserts, hot soups), variable speed dial, and pulse toggle. The brush stainless model looks fantastic in today’s modern kitchen. It comes with the 5 year warranty.

The most common street name for this refurbished model is the Vitamix 6300 refurbished.

In 2017, we’ve noticed the Vitamix 6300 Refurbished hasn’t been offered very often on the website. And when it does, it sells out quickly.

It’s a total blender, providing speed control and all the benefits of the legendary 5200 with the added benefit of Programs.

Certified Reconditioned Next Generation

A new addition to the refurbished Vitamix line is the Certified Reconditioned Next Generation, which features the newest class of Vitamix blenders.

This package contains one of the more powerful and quieter Vitamix models, like a 7500, Professional Series 300, or a Creations Elite, and the redesigned, shorter 64 oz Eastman Tritan BPA-free container, the Simply Fresh cookbook, and a tamper. It comes with the 5 year warranty.

This model is commonly referred to as:

  • Vitamix 7500 Refurbished
  • Vitamix Pro 300 Refurbished
  • Vitamix Creations Elite Refurbished

It is most commonly called the Vitamix 7500 Refurbished.

The newly designed motor base is available in one of five colors (black, white, red, espresso, or blue), contains the quieter and  2.2-peak powerful motor that churns thru nut butters like, well, butter! Fruit and vegetable will easily be blended.

It comes with the standard, variable speed with pulse toggle controls. It also comes with the newer generation container that incorporates the first 4″ blade.

Certified Reconditioned Next Generation Programs

Another new addition and the top of the reconditioned lineup is the Certified Reconditioned Next Generation Programs.

This package features the refurbished next generation Professional Series 750 model with the newly redesigned, shorter and wider, 64 oz BPA-free Eastman Tritan containers, the Create cookbook, a Getting Started guide, a tutorial DVD hosted by Chef Michael Voltaggio, and a tamper. It comes with the 5 year warranty.

Since this package is really made up of only one model of blender, it is also very commonly referred to as the Vitamix 750 Refurbished.

Like the Professional Series 750, the Vitamix 750 Refurbished is available in three colors (brushed stainless, black, or red) and come with the quieter, more powerful 2.2-peak horsepower motor inside the newer designed base.

As you can see in our review of the 750, we really love this blender for it being a Next-Gen series with the quieter base, as well as the addition of Programs.

You’ll enjoy blending ice cream and nut butter in this blender with its powerful motor!

It’s a bargain if you can find it in stock as a Vitamix 750 Refurbished model!

Vitamix Certified Reconditioned 5300

The Vitamix Certified Reconditioned 5300 is one of the most popular blenders out there, with it being sold as a new model called the ‘Vitamix 5300’ thru big retailers such as Costco, Sam’s Club and Williams-Sonoma. A complete write-up can be found on our Vitamix 5300 Post.

It comes in two colors, black or red, as a Vitamix 5300 Refurbished model. It is also basically a Vitamix 5200 with a bigger 2.2 HP motor, and uses the next generation 64 oz low-profile container that uses the bigger 4″ blade.  It comes with the 5 year warranty.

What’s great about this model is that you probably saw one in action as it was a favored model for live demo’s in a Vitamix booth at wholesalers like Costco.

If you love this model but not the price, you can get the exact same thing direct from Vitamix.com as a Vitamix Certified Reconditioned 5300, or as it’s commonly referred to as the Vitamix 5300 Refurbished. The one difference being it comes with a 5-year manufacturer warranty instead of the 7 if you bought it as a brand new model.

One point to note, Vitamix.com does not sell the Vitamix 5300 as a brand new model. You can only buy a new Vitamix 5300 from a retailer such as Amazon. But you can only buy the Vitamix 5300 Refurbished direct from vitamix.com.

Vitamix Certified Reconditioned 780

The Vitamix Certified Reconditioned 780 is a true work of art and some consider the “high-end blender” from Vitamix. Before the Vitamix Ascent blenders came out, I gave the Vitamix 780 the highest rating on Blender Reviews.

It’s the first Vitamix model to depart from the traditional knob and switch controls. It incorporates a flat touchscreen control system and makes for a very easy to clean blender. More information can be found on our in-depth review of the Vitamix 780.

Even though it’s missing the traditional dial, you can still variable speed control using the touch slider.

The Vitamix 780 Refurbished only comes in one color, like it’s brand new counterpart, black.

It is commonly known as the Vitamix 780 Refurbished, it comes with a new 64 oz low-profile container, a refurbished base, cookbook and a tamper. It comes with the 5 year warranty.

If you can find a Vitamix 780 Refurbished in stock, grab it immediately. It’s a great Next-Gen series model that is a workhorse.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are refurbished Vitamix good? Or are reconditioned Vitamix good?

Quality-5-stars

A: Absolutely! There’s an “icky” component many people think of when considering buying a “used” kitchen appliance.

But rest assured, these are not “used” as if you bought them from a garage sale, or as an “open-box” special from a retailer.

These blenders undergo a thorough “refurbishing” process. The only “icky” part are the parts that touch food, and that is the container.

You’ll be happy to know, the Vitamix factory puts a BRAND NEW VITAMIX CONTAINER on every Certified Reconditioned model they sell from vitamix.com

The other benefit is avoiding what has been known as the “black fleck” container issue. There was a short period of time back in 2014-2015 when customers were reporting black flecks in their drinks. This was caused by the bearing seal that used PTFE (commonly used on non-stick pots and pans) that was being released into the container. In response, Vitamix made some redesigns and fixed the black fleck issue.  If you buy a used Vitamix or get one that may have been sitting in a warehouse since the 2014-2015 time period, there’s a small chance you may run into this issue. But if you buy direct from Vitamix.com, you guarantee you will get one of the redesigned brand new containers.

Q: Which refurbished Vitamix to buy?

young-woman-taking-a-decision

A: This is a great question! The quick answer is, buy any model that is in stock.

All kidding aside, the Certified Reconditioned models are truly reconditioned models. They don’t build new units to sell as reconditioned models. Or as some retailers have started doing by building new versions of a product to sell at an Outlet Mall.

Vitamix truly only sells Certified Reconditioned models as they become available. And they get blenders that need refurbishing thru product returns, factory demo models, etc. As such, they are truly in limited quantities and color selections.

They are great as you can save $120 or more compared to a brand new version of the same blender. Our partner Adam has purchased several Vitamix Refurbished models and noticed no difference compared to new models he’s bought over the years.

The real problem with them is that they are in limited quantities. And if you find a model you like, it may not be in the color you want.

So to answer the question, which refurbished Vitamix to buy? Our Top Five favorite Vitamix Refurbished blender model are as follows, not in order of which one is best, but sorted merely based on price AND availability we’ve seen in 2017:

#1 Vitamix 5200 Refurbished (aka Vitamix Certified Reconditioned Standard)

#2 Vitamix 7500 Refurbished (aka Vitamix Certified Reconditioned Next-Gen)

#3 Vitamix 5300 Refurbished (aka Vitamix Certified Reconditioned 5300)

#4 Vitamix 750 Refurbished (aka Vitamix Certified Reconditioned Next-Gen Programs)

#5 Vitamix 780 Refurbished (aka Vitamix Certified Reconditioned 780)

What Do Others Think?

The “like new” quality of the Re-Conditioned 5300 paired with flexible financing options made this product affordable while working within a fixed income. I now look forward to drinking daily my favorite green smoothie, b/c of its smooth and creamy texture. (**Note – I had to force down this same smoothie recipe before purchasing the Vitamix b/c I had to “chew” the heavily textured mix**). This is the most used appliance in my kitchen!

 Lani W.

I could not be happier with this purchase. The certified reconditioned series is top notch and absolutely worth the savings. I’ve made green smoothies everyday since it has arrived and they are always smooth and creamy, never chunky, like drinking a liquified salad. I’ve also made soups, frozen desserts, and dips. Everything is excellent every time.

 Francine K.

I resisted buying a Vitamix for close to 2 years, trying to convince myself my standard blender was up to the tasks I was asking of it when I switched to a plant based diet. The cost seemed really high. I finally gave in, bit the bullet & purchased a refurbished Vitamix. All I can say is I wish I’d done it 2 years ago when I first learned about the Vitamix blender. There is absolutely no comparison between this machine & any standard blender on the market, regardless of how good a blender it is. This thing is in a class by itself.

Our Conclusion

smart

Don’t pay a premum for a new Vitamix blender. Buying a refurbished Vitamix is S-M-A-R-T.

  • Specific – Vitamix is a specific brand you can trust. It is a USA based company, legendary support, and they offer both consumer and commercial grade blenders. They are manufacturers focused on one specific product….blenders. They don’t manufacturer all different types of things like food processors, coffee makers, etc which allows them to focus on making the best blenders possible.
  • Measurable – It’s easy to see how much money you’ll save with a Vitamix Refurbished blender over a brand new model.
  • Achievable – While they sell out often, you can always find one of the five listed above in stock.
  • Relevant – A Vitamix is a luxury item for many people that find spending $600 on a blender as an extravagance. Buying a Vitamix Refurbished model can bring the price down to $299 or less.
  • Time-Based – Vitamix Refurbished models are NOT in stock all year round. They usually come and go. But you can usually buy one of the five recommended above when you need it or want it. For many people, it usually is part of a bigger goal, such as changing their diet, eating healthy, or a big gift for someone. These are timely and can be bought when you need them.

The money you’ll save ($80-$270) by purchasing one of the refurbished Vitamix packages makes it hard to justify spending the extra money on something that is fresh off of the assembly line. Add on the link below that includes our Vitamix promo code that gives you free shipping, you get to stack on multiple savings to your purchase. The shorter, 5 year warranty can even be upgraded to a full 8 years for an extra $75!

Over the years, I have personally owned two refurbished Vitamixes, blended many recipes in them such as delicious ice cream and hot soup, and can attest to their quality. Never before in my life have I incorporate so much fruit and vegetable meals in my daily intake. I’ve even avoided buying a food processor and making my Vitamix blender do double duty.

Vitamix takes great pride in their reputation for quality, producing a high end blender, so you can be sure that every blender, new or refurbished, meets strict standards for performance and durability.

In conclusion, buying a refurbished Vitamix is not only SMART, they are good!

70 thoughts on “Vitamix Refurbished Blenders – Are They Good?”

  1. Jannette Buchanan

I am very interested in obtaining a Vitamix for my daughter, as well as the rest of us. At one point, I saw online where one could buy one by making monthly payments. Is that still an option with the refurbished models?

    1. Rick @ BlenderReviews.us

      Hi Jannette,
Yes, Vitamix.com has a terrific monthly payment plan that is available for the refurbished models as well. More information can be found here.

  2. How does VitaMix quiet models compare do Blendtec’s? Waring and Jamba offer quiet models too. How do they rate in terms of noise and power. I tend to puree in large batches for freezing.

    Thank you, Paul

    1. Rick @ BlenderReviews.us

      Hi Paul,
Wow, that is a very short question that could entail an entire book to be written to fully answer it properly! There are many factors to compare in pro grade blenders. Limiting the scope of the question to pro grade and not commercial (restaurant) grade models, and focusing on noise, power, and cost, helps make for a quicker answer. I don’t have experience with Waring and Jamba so I won’t be able to assist there. The 2 things I can say in comparison, both Vitamix and Blendtec manufacturer their blenders in the USA, have done so for a very long time, and back their blenders with the industries best warranty’s of 7-8 years for new and 5-7 years for reconditioned. Most other blender manufacturer’s commonly have limited warranties that only cover motors and don’t cover essentials like the containers, which are more often than not more of a failure point than the motor, so take warranty into serious consideration when considering anything other than Blendtec or Vitamix.

In general, Vitamix Next Generation blenders are considered the quieter models in their lineup. Whereas Blendtec has the Designer and Pro Series. Price wise, the Blendtec Designer is a better match with the Vitamix Next Gen, and in general they both have excellent power and similar blended results, where most people, myself included, believe the Vitamix Next Gen are slightly quieter. The Blendtec Pro Series is above the price of comparable Vitamix Next Gen, but they do come with a cover that goes over the container to deaden noise. The Blendtec Pro Series is definitely the quietest of this group with the most powerful motor, but it is the most expensive option.

Bottom line, any of these Vitamix Next Gen or Blendtec Designer/Pro Series give some of the best, if not the best, blended results for the home user. If noise is your #1 concern, and price isn’t a factor, I’d recommend the Blendtec Pro Series all the way. If noise is your #1 concern and cost is a close second, I’d recommend a Vitamix Next Gen Reconditioned. Either way, I can wholeheartedly endorse Vitamix or Blendtec based on my personal experiences with both manufacturers. And best of all, they both have a 30-day return policy, which eases the buying decision a little. Best of luck!
