Vitamix 6300 Blender Review

The Vitamix 6300 is a C-Series (Classic) blender and is currently one of the highest-priced Classic Vitamix models available on the market, so it’s no surprise that this blender comes with some preprogrammed settings.

The biggest selling point of the Vitamix 6300 is that it combines this added technology with the familiar Classic Vitamix design. Its features, functions and power are not new innovations, and the design of the machine and its toggle and dial controls are reminiscent of the Classic Vitamix blenders that made Vitamix so popular.

But, with only a 2-peak horsepower motor, and the combination of three presets along with manual control, is the Vitamix 6300 worth the hefty $600 asking price, or are you better off saving some of that money and going with another model?

The Pros

  • Three Preprogrammed Settings: This Vitamix comes with three presets: Hot Soups, Smoothies, and Frozen Desserts, so it takes the timing and guesswork out of making some of the most common recipes. Having only three presets might not be enough for a home chef or gourmet cook, but for everyday meals, these presets will make your life easier.
  • Cookbook: The included, hard-cover cookbook offers hundreds of recipes and a Getting Started guide. This is a great tool for new owners to get familiar with everything their new Vitamix can do.

The Cons

  • Size: The Vitamix 6300 is a tall machine. The blender likely won’t fit as one piece under most kitchen cabinets, so storing it would mean removing the container from the motor base and storing it separately. While not a major hassle, some prefer having their blender set up and ready for use.
  • Price: The $599 price tag makes this model one of the most expensive Classic Series Vitamix blenders you can buy. Your money would likely be better spent on the Vitamix 5200 if you could do without the preprogrammed settings.

Performance

With a 2-peak horsepower motor, the Vitamix 6300 will do extremely well when it comes to grinding and blending even the hardest and toughest of ingredients. From creating the smoothest smoothies using dense or frozen fruits, to creating very delicate soups, the Vitamix 6300 can certainly perform well.

Remember, however, that with all this power will come some noise. An impressively powerful machine like a Vitamix never makes a quiet entrance. You can minimize some of the vibrations by placing a rubber matting underneath the motor base, but be prepared to wake the house (and maybe even the neighborhood) with your morning smoothie.

And while Blendtec, Vitamix’s biggest competitor in the market, showcases its Designer Series blenders with 3-peak horsepower motors, the Vitamix 6300 seems to be at a disadvantage, but it’s unlikely that the average consumer will really notice the difference when making the usual smoothie or soup.

Features and Functionality

The Vitamix 6300 comes with a few welcomed features and functionality that helps to set this model apart from other blender packages. And while performance is all about how powerful the motor of a blender is, the functionality and features are what makes this package unique.

Along with the 2-peak horsepower motor base, the Vitamix 6300 comes with the classic style container that is made of a BPA-Free Eastman Tritan® copolyester and a spill-proof, vented lid that can be removed so you can add in ingredients while the blender is running.

While these classic style containers can be pretty difficult to clean due to their shape and size, for most recipes you’ll simply fill the Vitamix 6300 container with warm water, add drop of liquid dish soap, and run on high speed for 30 seconds.

Like all Vitamix blenders, the Vitamix 6300 is comes with a tamper that helps you push ingredients down into the blades for when you’re making thicker recipes such as nut butters and ice creams. It isn’t required that you use the tamper for every recipe, but it’s nice to have when you need it.

The Vitamix 6300 comes with a 7-year warranty – which means you won’t have to worry about something going wrong for a very long time. If anything ever does break or wear out, Vitamix will even pay to ship the broken item back to their factory and ship a replacement for free.

Additionally, this package comes with the Savor recipe book, a Getting Started Guide and a cooking class DVD hosted by executive chef Steve Schimoler. These will certainly come in handy if this is your first Vitamix blender and you need a little help uncovering everything it’s capable of.

While the Vitamix 6300 does have three preprogrammed settings (Hot Soups, Smoothies and Frozen Desserts) and a variable speed dial, it doesn’t have as many as its closest Blendtec competitor, the Designer 675, which has an 8-speed capacitive touch slider and pulse, and five preprogrammed settings (Smoothie, Frozen Treats, Whole Juice, Hot Soup, Clean).

The Vitamix 6300 is certainly powerful and hi-tech, but certainly not as hi-tech or powerful as its closest Blendtec competitor.

Design and Usability

When assembled, the Vitamix 6300 measures 20.5 inch tall, which includes a 64-ounce jar and a 120 volt, 60 Hz 11.5 amps motor base). Yup, it’s a tall blender.

Should you decide to store the Vitamix 6300, you’re likely going to have to store its parts separately so that it can fit under the kitchen cabinets. It’s not an issue for most, but it might be an annoyance for you if you’re one of those people who like things set up, ready and in their places.

If you’re planning to keep the blender on your countertop and would like to include it as part of your kitchen décor, the good news is the Vitamix 6300 comes in a variety of colors – Black, Cream, Platinum, Red, and White.

The controls of the Vitamix 6300 are much less intimidating than the more technical ones found on the newer Blendtec blenders. Those looking to create everyday simple recipes tend to lean more towards Vitamix blenders because of their simpler controls and presets, and those who want something with hi-tech interfaces tend to gravitate towards Blendtec blenders.

Those who like old-fashioned dial and toggle switch controls of older Vitamix blenders will feel comfortable with the familiar setup of the 6300.

Our Conclusion

For those looking into adopting a healthier lifestyle, owning a high-powered blender has become today’s kitchen must-have.

The Vitamix 6300 certainly makes the list of blenders-to-consider, due to its powerful motor, familiar-yet-improved controls, and easy-to-clean container, however, I just don’t feel that the preprogrammed settings warrant an extra $150 over the cost of a new Vitamix 5200.

That said, if you have your heart set on a Classic Vitamix with preprogrammed settings, there’s only two options, the Vitamix 6300 and the Professional Series 500 (which costs an additional $50).

So, should you buy the Vitamix 6300? It really comes down to whether you want the preprogrammed settings enough to pay an extra $150 for them. Even though there are only three presets featured in this blender – three presets might be all that you need for everyday recipes.
