Does the Spring or Summer weather make you crave a refreshing glass of lemonade? On the days when the sunshine is warm, nothing is quite as refreshing as a tall glass of lemonade.
With the Vitamix Aer, making lemonade is a cinch. The basic recipe is water, lemons, and a sweetener (sugar or honey). No fake ingredients, chemicals, or preservatives. And it’s budget friendly. Plus, it takes just as long to toss the ingredients into your Aer Disc container as it would to measure out powder and stir it together with water. What’s not to love?
It sounds too good to be true, but it’s a reality. (Yet another reason why I love my Vitamix!)
Why not spice up your basic lemonade recipe? Not with literal spices (although perhaps a spicy lemonade is a good experiment to file away for another day?). Combine the lemon flavors with blueberries and basil.
The berries offer a fruity addition, while the basil provides a nice earthy flavor. Not a fan of basil? Use fresh mint leaves instead! The Vitamix Aer container juices the lemons, muddles the blueberries, and extracts the oils from the basil leaves. All in less than one minutes.
Every busy parent can spare the few minutes to dump the ingredients, blend for 30 seconds, strain over a pitcher, and serve a tall, fresh glass of blueberry basil lemonade. After your kids taste this drink, they will be begging you to teach them so they can make this recipe on their own!
- 1 ½ cups cold water
- 1 lemon, cut into 4 equal slices after removing the ends
- ¼ cup blueberries
- Small handful, ¼ cup fresh basil, loosely ripped in half
- ¼ cup of cane sugar or honey
- 2 cups of ice cubes, for serving
- Add all ingredients (except for ice) to the Vitamix Aer disc container.
- Blend on medium speed for 30 seconds.
- Strain into a pitcher.
- Serve over ice or chill in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours.
This lemonade tastes better the longer it sits! Prepare it the day before you plan to serve and allow the blueberries and basil to remain in the pitcher for the best flavors.
Don’t want the ice cubes to water down your lemonade? Freeze lemon slices and use them to chill your lemonade instead.
Not a fan of basil? Sub the basil with mint leaves.
