Muddled Screwdriver

When Winter colds are being passed around, I cling to washing my hands and eating lots of citrus. Right now Strep Throat is being passed around our circle of friends…which is why I was craving a drink using freshly squeezed orange juice.

After a long day, my husband and I just wanted to sit beside the lit Christmas tree and talk while sipping cocktails. Sounds romantic, right? It was! Especially since I was able to whip up a batch of Screwdrivers in only a few minutes.

Thanks to my Vitamix Aer container, I don’t need to hand-squeeze my oranges anymore! I peeled them and tossed them directly into the container. One minute later I had freshly squeezed orange juice. To remove the pulp (personal preference), I passed it through a fine mesh strainer.

This was the first time I’ve made this particular drink, although I’ve enjoyed it elsewhere before. However, after drinking it with fresh orange juice, I’m not sure if I can go back to the sugary store bought juice! It offered a light orange flavor without the unnatural sweetness.

Pull out your Vitamix Aer and juice some oranges for this tasty cocktail!

Hint: If you have kids, you can make them freshly squeezed orange juice while you sip on this decadent cocktail! Since vodka is clear, no one will know what’s really in your orange juice. Just be sure to not confuse glasses with your little ones.
