Figuring out which Vitamix is right for you can be a difficult decision. Many of the models have similar features and accessories, but have wide differences in price which makes picking the right model really confusing.
We’ll take a look at a few things to consider when shopping for a new blender to help you determine which is the right Vitamix for you.
Likely the first thing that people think about when purchasing a Vitamix is the price. Unless you’re extremely wealthy or have a rich uncle, purchasing a Vitamix will surely put a dent in your bank account. There’s no question that it will likely be one of the most expensive kitchen appliances you ever purchase.
The Vitamix models range in price from $299 for the refurbished, two speed model, all the way up to $689 for their top of the line, Professional Series 750 model.
If you’re looking for a way to save a bit of money on your Vitamix purchase, the Certified Reconditioned Vitamix line is the best choice. All refurbished models are lightly used demonstration models or returns that are fully inspected in the Vitamix factory. Any worn or broken parts are replaced with new ones, and all of the refurbished models receive new cookbooks and containers.
The Vitamix Certified Reconditioned products are available in five different packages, each with a different blender model at a different price point.
- Two Speed – $299
- Standard – starting at $329
- Standard Programs – starting at $379
- Next Generation – starting at $429
- Next Generation Programs – starting at $519
This is our recommendation if you’re looking to save some money and don’t mind having a Vitamix that didn’t just roll off the assembly line.
Head on over to our Certified Reconditioned review to get more details about the differences between each of the packages.
Also, you can get free shipping when you purchase a new or refurbished Vitamix if you use our exclusive Vitamix promotion code, 06-035. Free shipping will save you an additional $25 in the US or $35 in Canada.
One fairly new introduction to some of the Vitamix lines is preprogrammed settings. Using preprogrammed settings allows you to fill the container, then start the blender and continue working on other things. The blender will simply shut itself off once the cycle is complete.
This ability also gives you a more consistent finished product, since time you select a specific setting, your ingredients will be processed for the same amount of time at the same speeds every time.
Now, while some people may prefer this feature, others do not; they are satisfied having the control of the variable speed dial and high/low/pulse toggles. The addition of the preprogrammed settings adds quite a bit of money to the cost of the Vitamix, whether it is new or refurbished, around $150, but if ease of use and consistent results are important to you, it may be worth the additional cost.
Many people are interested in Vitamix because it is able to make flour from whole wheat, rice, or beans. For those with food allergies, this is one of the most desirable features.
While it is possible to make flour in any Vitamix using the included container, there are specific packages and a specially designed container that are available to make this even easier.
Vitamix offers a specialized, dry grains container which can be purchased separately and added to any package. This 32 oz container features blades that have been engineered to grind whole ingredients into flour.
The 32 oz dry grains container is also included as part of several packages available from Vitamix. The Vitamix 5200 Super – Healthy Lifestyle, Vitamix 5200 Deluxe – Complete Kitchen, and the CIA Creations packages all include the dry grains container, and will give you a bit of a discount over just buying the additional container separately.
Vegan or Raw Diets
If you’re interested using your Vitamix to help eat a vegan or raw diet, any Vitamix package will work well for you, but one package offered by Vitamix is targeted specifically for those types of diets.
The TurboBlend VS package features the Live Fresh cookbook which includes hundreds of raw, vegan, and vegetarian recipes, a getting started DVD hosted by Raw Food Author, Ani Phyo, and a 100% hemp filtration bag, which is used in making nut milk like soy, almond, or cashew.
With all of the available packages, figuring out which Vitamix is perfect for you can be a bit confusing. Hopefully, this article helped answer some of the questions that may have come up while researching all of the options.
