Vitamix 7500 Blender Review

The new Vitamix 7500 is one of the latest additions to the Vitamix lineup and is the most popular G-Series (NextGen) blender in that line. Building upon the quality and innovative technology of their past blenders, Vitamix created the Vitamix 7500 and addressed a few of the problems that owners of the Vitamix 5200 complained about.

The most noticeable difference with 7500 is the redesigned, lower-profile 64 oz container. The entire unit – with the container in place – is only 17.5″ tall, a full three inches shorter than the older 5200. This makes it a lot easier to fit under your kitchen cabinet. Vitamix has also improved the sound dampening on their newest blenders, and this model is over 40% quieter than older models.

Specifications

The 7500 measures up a bit differently than the other models in the Vitamix line. It is shorter, only 17.5″ tall, wider, 7.7″ wide, and deeper, 9.4″ deep. The Vitamix 7500 is also heavier than past models, 12.5 lbs, likely because of the more powerful motor. It comes equipped the same 6-foot cord as other models, which can be neatly stored by winding it beneath the motor base, which comes in one of only three colors (red, black, or white).

Are you thinking about upgrading your old Vitamix? You can get a $100 credit towards the purchase of any new Vitamix when you trade-in your old blender.

With the Vitamix 7500 you’ll receive a Simply Fresh cookbook containing hundreds of delicious recipes, a Getting Started guide and DVD containing introductory recipes and techniques to help you become familiar with the new blender, and a tamper designed to fit the new, shorter container.

The redesigned Eastman Tritan™ container

The first thing you’ll notice different about the Vitamix 7500 is the redesigned, lower-profile 64 oz container. The container is made of the same BPA-free polycarbonate as previous models but has been completely redone to make it wider and shorter, meaning it will fit under the average kitchen cabinet. The lid is a similar version of Vitamix’s easy-off 2-part vented lids. The fitted lid secures snuggly to the container to prevent leaks and has a removable twist-off center lid plug which enables you to add extra ingredients while the motor is running without making a mess.

Even though the container has been redesigned, you’ll likely still need the tamper when blending thicker mixtures to help push the ingredients down into the blades and to prevent air pockets from forming above the blades at higher speeds.

The wider container will help a bit with chopping ingredients since the larger base allows more of the ingredients to come in contact with the blade, and it also makes cleaning easier. You’ll find that most kitchen spatulas can now be used to scrape out the ingredients in the container more easily.

There are also several containers you can buy to get more use out of your Vita mix blender, such as the Vitamix Dry Container.

The Motor

The motor in the Vitamix 7500 has been upgraded so that it is more powerful than earlier Vitamix models. This blender’s motor is capable or 2.2-peak horsepower at 12 amps. This increase in horsepower means that it can now reach top speed of 270 miles per hour at full power so that ingredients are broken down more quickly.

This slow motion video by popsci.com shows just how much power a Vitamix is capable of producing. The vortex created by the blades will start to pull ingredients towards the blades almost immediately.

A lot of effort has also been put in to make the newer Vitamix blenders run more quietly. The Vitamix 7500 is nearly 40% quieter than the older Vitamix models, reportedly 7 decibels less noise at high speeds. If you’ve heard an older Vitamix before, you will be able to tell the difference. If the noise levels were what was holding you back from purchasing a Vitamix, then this model will be music to your ears.

The Controls

There have been some minor, but noticeable, improvements made to the controls of the new Vitamix 7500. This model still retains the familiar switch and dial configuration, but the high/variable toggle has been replaced with a pulse toggle.

This addition allows you to quickly pulse the blend at any speed for an added burst of power. You’ll also find this feature is very useful when chopping vegetables or making salsas. Gone are the day of flipping the power switch on and off or twisting the dial from 1 to 10.

The dial and switches are still made from the same ‘soft-touch’ rubber as the older models giving them a durable finish and solid feel.

Save $90 on a Vitamix 7500 by purchasing the Certified Reconditioned Next Generation package. Refurbished models come with a 5 year warranty and all new accessories.

Our Conclusion

The Vitamix 7500‘s increased power from the new, quieter running motor and redesigned, lower-profile container make an outstanding upgrade to the Vitamix lineup. If you’re serious about preparing food and want only the best for you and your family, this blender is worth the cost.

This blender is also guaranteed to last you seven years and will likely last many years past that. Not many other blenders on the market can make that claim.

  1. I just purchased a Vitamix 6300 at Costco, but now I am wondering if I would be better off with the professional models sold by William Sonoma or others (the 750 or 7500 models). Could you please explain what are the differences. Also, it seems that the cookbooks vary per style – any words of wisdom here? thank you. I need to make a quick decision and I cannot find comparisons between these two models.

As far as comparing the 6300 to either the Professional Series 750 or the 7500 model, the major difference is that the 6300 is a Classic Series model, while both 750 and 7500 are Next Generation models. There is a pretty thorough comparison of two of the most popular models from the different series in the 5200 vs 7500 article. The only difference between the 5200 model and the 6300 models is that the 6300 comes with the three pre-programmed settings (smoothies, hot soups, and frozen desserts). The internals and container are effectively the same.

The cookbooks of the Professional Series models contain more advanced recipes that take a bit more time and effort to make and are more targeted towards the home chef. The recipes in the other recipe books are a bit more traditional: smoothies, soups, sauces, spreads, and dips.

  2. Hello –

What is the difference between the Vitamix 7500 and Vitamix Pro 500? Which one would you prefer that is much more quiet and mixes the drinks like a juice? Do you know why QVC doesn’t sell the 7500 any longer?

    1. Adam @ BlenderReviews.us

      Ronda,

The Pro 500 model is a classic series blender, meaning that it uses the taller 64 ounce container and the 2 horsepower motor. The 7500, a next generation series blender, would be my recommendation since it uses the 2.2 horsepower motor and it going to be a bit quieter than the older, classic style models. Both blenders will do a great job of making juice.

As for why QVC does not sell the 7500 any long, I can’t say for sure, but it is possible that they are just out of stock.

  3. I am new to the Vitamix family, and I am already SUCH a fan! I bought my 7500 from Whole Foods, and in week one made several juices and smoothies, two nut butters, soups, salad dressing, marinade and sorbet! If the machine weren’t great (powerful, convenient, versatile, fun!) enough already, the company makes ownership even more wonderful. When I called sheepishly to confess my huge error of leaving a teaspoon in the machine, they couldn’t have been kinder. They actually will do a one-time replacement of the container (the blades were damaged and inside scratched) and evaluation (and any rebalancing/repair) of the base. And to verify the awesome power of the machine, the motor–from all I could tell–still ran perfectly after my major screw-up. I will have to live without my beloved new kitchen friend for 1-2 weeks, but I had the chance to learn, even more clearly, how happy I am to have made this investment in such a credible, professional, friendly, dedicated company as Vitamix.

This is such an awesome story, thank you for sharing! Vitamix certainly will go out of their way to help new owners. I’m happy to hear that you’re enjoying your 7500 and making lots of delicious things!

  4. Am seriously considering getting a 7500. Can you use the same containers, ie. 32 oz wet & dry, on the 7500 even though it is a wider base?

    1. Adam @ BlenderReviews.us

Yep! The connections between the bases and containers are the same on both old and new models.

Hola me gustaría saber si puede poner una jarra de la vitamix profisional del hogar en una vita prep 3 mi gusta mucho la prep 3 pero su jarra es hecha policarbonto que es toxica gracias

  5. I have a vita mix that almost 40 years old. It is stainless steel and actually still works fantastic. But I am considering upgrading to the newer more roomier vita mix. My son bought the 6300 and said the pre-settings are not worth the price. I am struggling between the 5200 and the 7500. All opinions would be gratefully accepted. Thank you.

Hi Pat, I have an article specifically comparing the 5200 and the 7500, here.

Having used both, I definitely feel that the 7500 is a better product and the wider container makes it much easier to scrape out if you’re blending anything thick, like hummus or peanut butter.

    2. Hi, My wife and I just bought a 7500 from a Sam’s Club demo. Incredible blender (1st time VM owner). However, our unit has an irregular defect and is going back. Upon doing research, I found the 5300 to be a very good value. Virtually the same blender and low profile features as a 7500. Tradeoffs – a bit noisier, and older style classic 5200 base. The controls on the 5300 are the same as 7500. Waiting for 5300 to arrive. Bought reconditioned 5300 for only $299 w/ 5year warranty. Saved enough to justify buying a 48 wet container too. Still came in a 100 lower than our 7500. If you like the low profile features of the 7500, you may want to consider the real value of the 5300. Same container, same controls, same motor, just mounted and in housing for sound.

Advice – if you go with low profile 64 container, buy another small 32/48 if you make single serving smoothies. Consensus with many 7500/5300 64 low profile:container users = not good with small batches.
